More about NZ

Ahhhh, the weather here is quite like England, its raining, cold and wet today, boo, but Im in Rotorua and headed to the museum for a bit of culture & cake (think they go hand in hand) oops meant to be on a health kick! bugger! and then the evening spent in the Polynesion Spa, mmm thats more like it. The museum was a real eye opener, I learned all about how the Mauris helped out the Brits fight agaist the Nazis when they were trying to invade Italy and Greece.
Whiling away my evening floating about in various temperature mineral pools, under the stars, thoughts and worries drifting away with the steam, onto the surrounding lake. Myskin was absolutly glowing when I eventually forced myself out. It was so so so relaxing, my whole body felt like jelly once I finally emerged 3hrs later, into the cool night air, I could all but stroll home, (to my cute eco hostel) slowly slowly to make myself a tasty prawn stirfry feast and sipon a cool refreshing glass of NZ sauvignon blanc mmm ahhhh
Pictures of my eveing to follow, I promise, but for now, bed in my cosy bunk bed, ahhh the joys of hostel living....
Ooh and I saw my 1st tattoed Mauri today in the supermarket car park, Ive seen lots of Mauri decendants, they have very striking faces, and are really big, even the women. But never someone with the tatoo tribal markings on their face, I wanted to stare longer but he drove away too quickly, probably for the best, but i was just intrigued, its so strange when you´ve only ever seen things onTV or a film, or in pictures, then your seeing it, face to face and you never quite thought it was real, or how people actually lived or looked, I love this about travelling, being constantly confronted and suprized by people in a great way and life, as I havent previously known it..... food for thought people.....

  1. OOh cakes and spa.. cakes and spa... I feel a new way of living coming on.... I really am struggling to think about how life gets better!

I'm glad to hear that you are still discovering new local wines - I really can't wait for you to share all your new knowledge over a tasting or two when you get back.

We are all getting excited about seeing you when you get back. Jonathan and I are actually off to Toronto again - JOnathan leaves on Wednesday but I will fly out a few weeks later. However, we will be back in plenty of time for when you get back (we think we will return at the end of July).

I hope that the weather warms up soon.

    xxx
