So, Becky and I have been in the wonderful city of Buenos Aries for 7 days now, living it up, partying and dancing hard, absorbing the culture all around, museums, sights, tango! ooh and a good bit of well deserved shopping here and there (after all I have been deprived of decent shops, no offense central & the rest of south america for 7 months)
We have head the most lovely time, met great fun people and stayed in a lovely easy going, comfy (if quite dirty) hostel in Palermo, a beautiful funky suberb filled with little boutiques, botannical gardens, fun bars, cobbled streets and much much more (including amazing ice cream shops, of which in 7 days we have only actuallly had one, believe it or not, my sweet tooth has faded a bit, although probably having been replaced by he sugar rush of rum & orange, fantastic Caprinhas & red wine mmm mmm....
Anna, you will understand when I say how amazing it feels to buy something new and how amazing and refreshed it can make you feel. Well... since being here in BA surrounded by wonderful jewellery markets, intriging vintage & antique stalls, endless fancy malls (most of which house clothes I can only dream off) even if the fashion is slightly cowgirl ish for my liking!
We visited SanTelmo, a fantastic vintage market in an old part of town, which used to be where all of the rich people lived before they fled due to an epedemic years ago. Well, a month earçlier Becky had stumbled accross this one particular vintage hand bag stall and purchased one lovely clutch bag, so, of course, we had to head straight there and gaze upon the lovely leather goods to see what grabbed our eye. I bought this lovely, small tan embossed leather hand bag in such great condition, I love it, love it love it and had been keeping my eye out for one for a while now as have no small bag for everyday use - perfect. BTW Becky bought 2, and one of tehm is a luggage weekend bag, not ideal for carrying around whilst travelling and living out of a back pack but a bargain not too be missed!
Another purchase was a black, day to night time v necked dress, another bargain and I was so in need of new clothes, and I wore it to a fanastic night of live drumming in a big ware house building the other night, and it went down well! perfect!
OOh and a blue vest with buttons up the front & 2 pairs of silver earings - when in Rome hey!
Ooh and I eventually got to wear my beautiful floor length green patterened dress that I bought in Mancora, alovely beach town in Peru, I will post lots of pics, maybe tomorrow, you have to see it, its a winner.
For the next 7 days, becky and I are taking our selves off to an Eco Yoga Farm 60km from BA. There we will only eat vegetarian & vegan food (not meat, eggs or alcohol allowed), work on the farm for 4.5hrs every morning and then in the afternoons partake in yoga or meditation classes with bells & indulge in the beautiful countryside that will surround us - a big detox and opening of our minds to all things healthy and maybe spiritual.
So I bid you farewell and when I next blog on, I may just be a little bit enligtened, maybe a touch thinner (I live in hope) and a convert to vegetarianism
Chau Chau xx (this is what Argentinians say ratrher than Adios) so when in Rome
OOOOh shopping, veganism and rum - are you in my dream location???? Next you will tell us that they are giving out free puppies in which case I am on the next flight out there!
ReplyDeleteThe shops sound wonderful - you are going to come back with some really unique pieces!! Oh the jealousy......
